Shari brings decades of lived experience to this team, modeling how to live life well. Her dedication to lifelong learning and health inspires, and her keen mind, strong communication skills, and quick sense of humor are fun to work with. 

She started as an Environmental Educator with the Jacobsburg Environmental Education Center before working for several years as an environmental education specialist. She transitioned into environmental regulatory work – initially with the Washington Department of Ecology as a Hazardous Waste and Oil Spill Responder / Contingency Planner, and then as a Natural Resources Specialist III with the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality. 

In these roles she conducted field inspections in her assigned region, wrote permits, reviewed materials management grant applications, served on grant scoring committees, managed regional household hazardous waste collection events, handled complaint investigations, and conducted enforcement actions.

In 2017, she took early retirement from the regulatory field and spent a year living in the United Kingdom with her family. When she returned to Central Oregon, she pursued a degree in Massage Therapy and currently volunteers in her community, assisting with grant writing, scoring grant applications and supporting local non-profits.
